Press release of the association HamAva and Licra: “Woman, life, freedom”, year of resistance and solidarity – Licra

On September 16, 2022, the tragic death of Mahsa Amini, who was killed by “morality police” during her detention for “improper dressing”, led to the uprising of Iranian women against the theocratic dictatorship of the mullahs and the creation of the “Women” movement. , Life, Freedom “.

This movement started by Iranian women spread to the entire population. The Iranian people are resisting despite the fierce repression ordered by Ayatollah Khamenei and carried out by the Revolutionary Guards: arbitrary arrests, torture, rape, murder, public hangings, regular internet shutdowns and the use of video surveillance combined with facial recognition, a system provided by the People’s Republic of China.

But fear has changed sides and this violence cannot silence these brave women and men who expect us to support their fight for freedom and democracy.

As a continuation of the Day of Mobilization on February 3, organized under the auspices of the President of the National Assembly, Mrs. Yaël Braun-Pivet, on the initiative of Mrs. Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet, a member of the Paris Parliament, from the HamAva and Licra Association, we call on the European Union, the Council of Europe and the UN to condemn and sanction the Islamic Republic of Iran for repeated violations of women’s rights and the policy of gender discrimination institutionalized since 1979.

We call on the European Union to provide the Iranian resistance fighters with technical means that will enable them to bypass Internet blockades and maintain connections with the outside world.

We ask the French government to act with the member states of the European Union to sanction Iranian judges and lawyers who cooperate with the regime of Ali Khamenei and who act as zealous servants of his repressive policies.

We ask the member states of the European Union, especially France, to introduce more demanding and selective measures in issuing visas to ensure that members of the Revolutionary Guard do not profit from coming to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Europe.

Finally, we call on journalists and media leaders to continue their efforts over time, talking regularly about the daily life of the Iranian people, recalling the names of the victims of repression, repeating the acts of resistance of women and men who are fighting for a democratic Iran, so as not to allow the Iranian mullahs to gain information battle.
